The famous Sparkman & Stevens yawl Bolero is depicted in this working sketch lifted on an ocean swell, reaching for the finish line with her nearly complete complement of sails. Launched in 1949, Bolero was built in the S&S tradition in an era of postwar technical improvements. She went on to collect an impressive number of racing trophies and is today one of the great survivors from a colorful era of ocean racing.
